  • Just a Quick Word about Soul Food

Soul food…intuitive cooking…a dash of this and a pinch of that comes with watching and learning from the cooks around you and with practice – patience and time – you’ll get the hang of it!  you’ll evolve and it’ll be second nature!

  • A Lazy Sunday

Premium Photo | 3D Render digital art painting of Rainy Window Window ...

As I sit here on this lovely, but yet lazy Sunday I ask myself simple questions.

    Am I good to myself?

Is the life I’m living truly the one I thirst for?

Do I feel good most of the time?

I could keep pondering these philosophical questions, but the truth is it’s better for me to be in the moment. To look out the window with a nice cup of hot tea and take in what Mother Nature has bestowed in front of me. I have to learn to not only love myself, but the beautiful world that I’ve been blessed to be apart of.

  • Happy Belated Juneteenth!

Yes, I know I’m a little late, but I was busy with some things.

As a proud black and beautiful woman, Juneteenth Day is a wonderful celebration of not only black identity but freedom in general.

Black or not, I hope you had a beautiful Juneteenth and remember that it is a day to commemorate that beautiful principle: freedom.

  • Movie Time: The Goonies

Heyyy yooou guysssssss!!! One of my all time favorite movies is The Goonies.

The movie takes you on a crazy adventure with 4 best friends that grew up together Mikey, Data, Chunk and Mouth, oh and Mikey’s bonehead brother, Brandon. Mikey and crew are a rambunctious bunch of innovative kids with all kinds of contraptions up their sleeves.

Mikey is a dreamer and much like his father loves to explore. One day, the bunch find themselves in the attic looking at family memorabilia when Chunk, the clumsy one, accidentally kicks over and breaks a frame that housed an old treasure map. Mikey tells the crew he thinks there’s something to the map and that the treasure was never found. So, on the heels of getting news that Brandon and Mikey are about to lose their family home, the kids decide they have nothing to lose and set out for a great adventure to the long lost treasure.

The kids come across some shady characters named the Fratelli’s that own a run down family restaurant. After the crew discover a car with bullet holes and then Chunk sees 2 dead bodies in the deep freezer looking for ice cream, they realize the Fratelli’s aren’t great people and make a mad dash down a fireplace to escape.

Ultimately, The Goonies are chased through subterranean tunnels filled with all sorts of tests and booby traps listed on the treasure map and ultimately discover Chester Copperpots pirate ship and it’s treasures of gold and jewels.

  • Summertime

Summertime is for pools and lemonade; barbecues and beaches, fireworks, family time and friends. If you work 9-5 which you likely are, it can be a juggle or delicate balance between all of these. Staying hydrated and look for the rainbows.

Some of my favorite memories include city pool time with cousins. Let this summer be a fantastic one for you!

  • Friday the 13th

It’s Friday the 13th family! Uh-oh, that could mean a couple of different things.

For the superstitious, not so much a good day, for those looking for a reason to watch a classic, old scary movie this day is awesome!

I didn’t even realize it was Friday the 13th until I looked at my calendar. I was like ‘oh my gosh!’, now I had a good reason to rewatch the classic 1980 slasher: Friday the 13th.

I don’t really like to pick sides when it comes to horror icons, but to some degree I lean towards Jason Vorhees simply because the first movie wasn’t even about him being the killer, but ingeniously is about his mother being the killer. A woman being the psychopath slasher? Sign me up.

I know a little macabre, but heck, we all have our guilty pleasures. Anyway, if you’re not into horror movies on Friday the 13th, then regardless have yourself a pleasant Friday!

    Until next time family!

  • Pink Moscato

Ahhh…Pink moscato, talk about a heavenly thing. I’ve been somewhat of a wine connoisseur in my own right in this life and moscato, especially, pink always knew how to win this girls heart.

One of the loveliest notes about this beautiful bubbly is the fact that I can enjoy it without food. It does pair nicely with any diverse charcuterie board and can serve as an alternative to champagne for mimosas. I enjoy it in the morning, in the afternoon, or the evening. Just one glass of this tasty lady is all I really need. True, I could go a bottle in but nowadays, that’s really only acceptable once in a blue moon 😉

anyhow, if you haven’t treated yourself to her, you should consider some time in the future, and the best part it really doesn’t matter what brand you get: pink moscato is pink moscato, otherwise I just might be barefoot and bubbly😊

    love you and treat yourself.
